Rankings are a starting point, not a verdict. Whichever companies quote you, the comparison comes down to four checks anyone can run:

  1. Same system, same math. Get every quote on the same system size so the price per watt is actually comparable. Our system size calculator gives you that number before anyone quotes you.
  2. Your utility's real export rate. Savings estimates that assume full retail credit for exported power are stale in most of the country. Check what your utility actually pays, then run the payback math yourself.
  3. License and warranty, verified. Confirm the installer's state license and compare workmanship warranties separately from panel warranties; the installer's own promise is the one that matters when a roof leaks.
  4. No phantom incentives. The residential federal credit ended for systems placed in service after 2025. A quote that still subtracts 30 percent deserves hard questions.
