About ClearChoiceRadar
An independent consumer research site for high-stakes money decisions. This page explains exactly how it works, so you never have to take our word for anything.
The short version: We compare providers and explain complicated financial and home-service topics in plain language. We make money through affiliate and referral relationships with some of the companies we list, and that can influence which companies appear and where. Our facts come from primary sources, government agencies, statutes, and academic research, cited on the page they support. Our calculators and data tools are free, carry no advertising, and take no compensation.
What this site is, and what it is not
ClearChoiceRadar is a comparison and education platform covering six areas where a wrong decision can cost thousands of dollars: tax relief, debt relief, residential solar, gold IRAs, business formation, and pest control. In each, we research the providers, decode the government rules, and build tools that let you run your own numbers.
We are not any of the following, and we say so plainly on the pages where it matters:
- We are not tax advisors, attorneys, financial advisors, or investment advisors, and nothing on this site is individualized advice. For your specific situation, consult a licensed professional.
- We are not affiliated with the IRS, any state tax agency, or any other government body.
- We are not a regulator, a lender, or a mediator. We cannot resolve a dispute with a company or change what a provider does.
How we make money
ClearChoiceRadar may earn compensation when visitors click links, call phone numbers, or submit information through forms on our site. This compensation comes from providers we list and may influence which companies we feature and how prominently they are placed, including their position in our rankings. Our How We Rank page explains the scoring, and our full advertising disclosure explains the relationship in detail.
We think the honest thing is to tell you that plainly rather than claim our rankings are untouched by money. What we do promise is that the compensation does not buy a good writeup: a company's fees, licensing, complaint record, and disclosures are described the same way whether or not we have a relationship with it, and the free tools and data pages below earn nothing regardless of what you do on them.
Where our facts come from
The thing we care most about is that our numbers are right and traceable. So we work from primary sources, not from other people's summaries:
- Government and regulatory sources for the rules and the data: IRS instructions and the IRS Data Book, state statutes quoted by section number, Secretary of State fee schedules, CFPB complaint data, Federal Reserve figures, and state extension and university research.
- Cited on the page they support. When we state a figure, a deadline, or a legal rule, we link the official source next to it so you can verify it yourself in one click.
- Dated and maintained. Time-sensitive figures (tax rates, filing fees, income thresholds) carry a review date, and we keep an internal calendar of when each number needs rechecking against its source. When a figure changes, we update the page.
If a fact on this site cannot be traced to a credible primary source, it should not be here. When we cannot verify something, we leave it out rather than guess.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and rules change. If you spot an error or an out-of-date figure, email info@clearchoiceradar.com with the page address and what you believe is wrong. We review every correction request, fix confirmed errors promptly, and update the page's review date when we do. Reporting an error costs you nothing and genuinely helps.
Why you will not see author bylines
Our content is researched and published by the ClearChoiceRadar editorial team rather than under individual bylines. We made that choice deliberately. On the topics we cover, an impressive-sounding byline is easy to invent and hard for a reader to verify, and we would rather not ask you to trust a name. Instead, we built the site so the trust lives in the work: every factual claim links to the government or academic source behind it, our scoring method is published, and our funding is disclosed. Judge the sourcing, not the author.
Our tools are free, and stay free
Alongside the comparisons, we build calculators and data tools: IRS penalty and interest estimators, a debt payoff planner, a wage garnishment calculator, a debt validation letter generator, solar sizing and payback calculators, an LLC cost calculator, a live gold price chart, and more. These carry no advertising, require no signup, collect nothing to use, and take no compensation. Any site is welcome to embed them for free with attribution. They exist to be useful, which is the only marketing we think actually works over time.
